Instant Bhatta
You need
- 250 gm fresh puffed rice
- 100 gm roasted peanuts
- 2 medium-sized onions (finely chopped)
- Half-cup finely chopped coriander
- 20 gm raw mango (chopped) (optional)
- 7-8 cloves of garlic (peeled and crushed)
- 1 tbsp kale tikhat masala (made by frying dry red chili and Maharastrian kala/goda masala in 1:1 proportion and grinding to a paste)
- 2 tbsp refined oil (preferably peanut oil)
- Salt to taste
- 50 gm super thin or nylon sev (optional)
How to make
- Sieve the puffed rice properly. Add the roasted peanuts, chopped raw mango, onion and coriander to it.
- Take 2 tbsp oil in a bowl. Add in the kale tikhat masala, a pinch of salt and the minced garlic cloves. Mix this mixture to a uniform consistency.
- Add this mixture to the puffed rice mixture and mix well using your hands.
- Enjoy your instant bhatta !
If you prefer to store your Bhatta and enjoy it over a period of 4-5 days

- 2 tbsp refined oil (preferably peanut oil)
- Salt to taste
- ½ tbsp cumin powder
- ½ tbsp coriander powder
- ¼ tbsp powdered sugar
- ½ tbsp red chili powder (for a spicier flavor, optional)
How to make
- Sieve the puffed rice properly. Add the roasted peanuts to it.
- Take 2 tbsp oil in a bowl. Add in the kale tikhat masala, a pinch of salt, powdered sugar, cumin powder, coriander powder and red chili powder if you want a super spicy flavor. Mix to a uniform consistency.
- Add this mixture to the puffed rice mixture and mix well using your hands.
- This bhatta can be stored up to 4-5 days at room temperature and enjoyed at leisure.
Pro Tip
- Try to use a mortar and pestle instead of a mixer to crush the garlic cloves for better flavor.
- Mix the Bhatta with your hands instead of a spoon to ensure thorough mixing and better taste.
- If you are using the recipe to store your Bhatta over 4-5 days, add the ingredients like onion, garlic, coriander, etc. just before serving as they can otherwise moisten the puffed rice.
